The Company
Jack Daniel's has been distilling and bottling whiskey for more than 150 years at its distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee — the oldest registered distillery in the United States and a fixture on the National Register of Historic Places. The company behind the world-famous Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey, along with Gentleman Jack, Single Barrel, Tennessee Honey, and several other labels, has built its reputation on consistency at a scale most distilleries never approach.
That scale is exactly what put pressure on the plant floor. As demand kept climbing, the bottling team's historically reliable, largely manual methods started to show their limits. Jack Daniel's needed a Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) platform that could give its bottling operation room to grow — without disrupting the production it depended on to fill that demand. They brought in Parsec partner EOSYS System Integrators to lead the search and the implementation.
The Challenge
Jack Daniel's bottling team was running seven lines on information that lived in disconnected systems, with no shared, real-time view of what was actually happening on the floor. There was no reliable way to see individual line performance or quality in the moment, and communication between shifts and departments depended on people relaying information rather than data confirming it.
Whatever system they chose had to solve for two things at once: it had to work — instrumenting downtime, quality, and OEE with real data — and it had to be adopted. The team had seen systems before that looked good on paper but added friction for the people running the lines every day. This one couldn't be implemented in a way that disrupted production, and it couldn't survive if operators didn't actually use it.
The Solution
TrakSYS gave the team a single, unified MOM platform to capture OEE and start cutting the paper out of the bottling lines — without asking operators to change how they worked overnight. The team piloted TrakSYS on one line first, then commissioned the rest of the site's bottling lines once the platform proved out.
EOSYS extended TrakSYS with two custom features built specifically for how Jack Daniel's operates: Multi-event Acknowledgement and Broadcast Notifications. Multi-event Acknowledgement let operators group downtime events by a set of configurable variables and log reasons for multiple occurrences in one pass, instead of documenting each one individually. Broadcast Notifications gave leadership a way to push time-sensitive messages to every line or a single line, surfaced through "cockpit pages" that require acknowledgment — so the information that matters actually reaches the floor.
Quality inspections moved into TrakSYS too. All inline inspections that used to run on paper are now documented and tracked in the system, with recurring tasks configured to trigger automatically on a set frequency — a direct hit on both the paperwork burden and QA reporting consistency.
None of this happened in a vacuum. Strategic team leads were looped in throughout design to flag anywhere TrakSYS risked adding work rather than removing it, and team leaders — not just EOSYS — trained the operators on the new system. That early ownership is a big part of why adoption held up across every line rollout.
We never got that warm fuzzy feeling like 'this is it' with any of the systems except one: TrakSYS.
The Impact
TrakSYS is now Jack Daniel's system of record for measuring OEE across all seven bottling lines. The team has real-time, credible KPIs where there used to be estimates, and downtime across those seven lines has dropped 2.5% since rollout. Inline quality inspections run through TrakSYS instead of paper, cutting administrative load while exceeding the site's QMS compliance standards.
Maybe the clearest sign of how much changed: managers are now having far more OEE conversations with operators than they were before TrakSYS existed at all.
